Eiffel Tower on fireNow, the French might not be our best friends these days, but Gothamist is always alarmed and worried when there is smoke coming from very tall structures these days.

Eiffel tower as "very tall"? How telling: the French want you to think its tall, whereas in reality, it's probably the height of, say, the Flatiron Building. Kinda illustrative of the French zeitgeist, no?

Flatiron Building, 95m (311 ft) and 22 storeys.
According to the article the Eiffel Tower is 1,069 ft tall and the fire broke out near the top - on the third floor.
