Girls race at Central Park; Photo - Justin Lane, New York Times

Central Park's 150th birthday celebration was filled with various races, including ones for the kids, a dog parade, archery, people reenacting colonial New Yorkers, opera in the evening, and a birthday cake that looked like Bethesda Fountain, to name a few of the actitives offered.

Coverage from Newsday, NY Post and Daily News. The Times has a slide show.

I was confused by this picture as well when I saw it in black and white at first. I was hoping to see some kid try to trip another, but no luck.

The optical illusion is fed by the fact that they're using adult-sized identification numbers on tiny torsos. It's like an eye riddle... OF FUN!!!
