Central Park is celebrating its 150th anniversary all summer long, but the official birthday this tomorrow. There are many events all day tomorrow, from croquet to walking tours, watching archery championships to a birthday cake cutting at 11AM. It looks to be beautiful tomorrow, so spending the day at the park doesn't sound all that bad.
Two events that especially interest Gothamist:
10:15 am
Central Park PAWS Celebrates Central Park’s 150th Birthday: Bring your dog to a parade and birthday party at Cherry Hill located off the 72nd Street Transverse Road (west of Bethesda Terrace).
8:00 pm
Evening Concert - Duetto: Great Lawn, mid-Park from 79th Street to 85th Street The birthday celebration will conclude with a night of opera, as acclaimed tenors Marcelo Alvarez & Salvatore Licitra perform for the first time together in the U.S. [Central Park Conservancy press relase for Duetto; the official Duetto website.]

Croquet and archery sounds pretty fresh, but I've got a date with The Kills at 2pm, !!! at 3pm, Ted Leo at 5:30pm and Idlewild at 8pm. Coney Island, Baby!
No Modest Mouse at 7:30pm? I love Issac Brock, though I miss Jeremiah Green fiercely.
If the stages stay on schedule, I'll watch a bit of Modest Mouse. But I've never seen Idlewild, so they get priority. Modest Mouse comes through town often enough that I can skip them this once.
Northern State on the second stage-- they're funny.
A dog parade and free cake, what more could a girl want? I'm waking my dog up earlier than he's used to to get to Cherry Hill, Gothamist is welcome to come with if you don't have a dog of your own.
Thanks, lia, but I think I need to head over to Roosevelt Island for the Angel Project. Let me know how cute it was later!
