For once, Gothamist might be saying there's too much information. It was bad enough knowing Ron Livingston had only signed on for eight episodes (so far?) for Sex and the City before the season even started, meaning Jack Berger is probably not anything too permanent. It's just that there's something wonderfully (relatively) sane and normal about Berger that's even more of a fantasy than Chris Noth's Big, who, by recent Gawker accounts, is looking really rough.
The new news is that David Duchovny has signed on for four episodes, most likely to play a romantic interest for Carrie Bradshaw. Yay, David Duchovny, but this is just a reminder that Berger is on his way out. Maybe he'll do something reprehensible, but it's still Peter Gibbons.
Duchovny is no stranger to sex: He was the "Narrator" on the soft-core Red Shoe Diaries and on the X-Files, he had a predilection for porn, complete with subscription to Adult Video News.

Every time I saw Livingston I thought of his role in Office Space. I was laughing about TPS reports when I should have been paying attention to the TV.
I keep thinking about him talking about how he's such a big pussy or wondering when he's going to suggest watching some kung fu. Sigh, I love Peter Gibbons.
I haven't seen this show you're talking about, but this Carrie woman seems a bit loose. Has she ever considered just finding one man and settling down?
Did anyone see Ron Livingston on the Daily Show with John Stewart a few weeks ago? He was an ass. Made some comment about "men being the ones who run the world since they sign the checks". After that comment, and reading your note this morning about Livingstons limited run, all I can say is YEAH! He is a moron.
Livingston sucks as an actor and his character sucks even more in SATC. Bring Big back, or even Aidian, just get rid of Berger. And every character is loose on that show, even Charlotte, "the prude." Worth checking out a couple episodes, especially the early ones, this season isn't as great.
From what I've been told, there's much more to the last season than just Duchovny. Don't worry, knowing about him isn't a spoiler.
i'll put down some money that Berger's mid-rebound and exits to make his way back to his own ex-file...
Okay--don't read this if you don't want a spoiler, but DD is Carrie's rebound post-Berger. And Berger is a spoiled whiny drip, so good riddance.
