Gothamist was directed to a great weblog by an eGullet article. The blog, The Julie/Julia Project, is the diary of a woman trying to cook everything in Julia Child's classic Mastering the Art of French Cooking. "365 days. 536 recipes. One girl and a crappy outer borough kitchen." Unfortunately, if she's sticking to the one-year format, she's near the end of her run. But the quality of her writing and the vivid descriptions of the food itself are enough to set this foodie a-shiver.
Julia Child is still cooking on PBS, now with Master Chefs. The Smithsonian moved Julia's Massachusetts' kitchen to its museum, when Julia decided to move to California.

There was great episode of Wolfgang Puck's Food TV show, where he visited Julia in her new apartment in California (it's kind of assisted living). Julia kept trying to add more alcohol to all the dishes, plus opted to drink at any opportunity. A great woman she is.
The fact that she drinks a lot makes that photo of her frightening--just think what she could do if, in a drunken rage, she used her culinary powers (and all those knives) for evil. She could make even Martha Stewart seem like a kitten.
I think Julia's awesome. I love the Jacques Pepin/Julia Child shows where she's always dumping more wine and butter into things. She's got a great sense of humor-- she's an alum of my alma mater and I've heard her speak once or twice.
