A Gothamist Memorial Day Weekend

Get readyAaron at 601am inspired us with his suggestions for an indoor Memorial Day weekend for guests. Since lousy weather makes getting past the front door even harder, we have included many things that are great stay-at-home activities:

- Go see a movie (Sweet Sixteen, A Woman Is A Woman, Matrix: Reloaded again to better defend position)
- Watch Sex and the City and the Jack Ryan Collection on DVD
- Clean out the closet
- Watch the Animatrix online
- Sleep
- Play with new Palm Tungsten-C
- Listen to Electric Version by the New Pornographers
- Pray the Stone Roses really will reunite
- Work on the tan with bronzers
- Read DaVinci Code by Dan Brown
- Watch Maggie Smith in My House in Umbria on HBO - or see her in The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie or California Suite or A Room with a View
- Have fondue at Artisanal...mmm...melty cheese...(bring Lactaid for Jake)
- Order from Fresh Direct
- See Manet/Velazquez at the Met
- Make some friends
- See Gigantic, the They Might Be Giants film, at Cinema Village
- Catch up on Buffy and Law & Order finales

Turkey; Photo - Art LindenauerIf the weather is nice:
- Find the Upper West Side Turkey (the Times article notes an "Art Lindenauer" who lives on West 70th, right in Jen's neighborhood...so if you see a girl running around West 70th with a digital camera AND a crazed look in her eyes...or even a girl with a crazed look in her eyes)

And on Memorial Day itself:
- Watch Law & Order marathon on TNT
OR
- Watch Trading Spaces marathon on TLC

I want to go see art outside of museums tomorrow. Tom Otterness has a gallery show. Who's in?

That turkey has been running around the city for weeks. It hung out in my mom's backyard in Chelsea all afternoon, recently.

This is a great site, by the way!

Thanks! The other wild animal reportage is fun. I do indeed remember the coyote incident. And I've heard lately about wild parrots hanging out in the Bronx. No surprise there.
