The FAA wants airlines to increase the average assumed weight of each passenger by 10 pounds and of each checked bag by 5 pounds. Apparently, airlines assume passengers are 180 most of the year, except in the winter, passengers are on average 185 pounds (winter fat for hibernation). Checked bags are steady at 25 pounds. Airlines probably won't be being weighing passengers, but Gothamist wonders why not, since passengers basically have to strip down while passing through security.
Gothamist only has carry-on for the trip to Denver today. So even though we probably have 30 pounds of carry-on (tapes, files, computer), we're not trying out the infamous Denver International baggage system.

yea...gothamist the weary airport warrior with 3:30AM wake-up calls to board a 6AM flight. Seriously, are people getting that much heavier?Even with the 30lb carry-on you must be below 180lbs.
