Rice to Riches; Photo - Daily Candy Much to our pleasure, Daily Candy reports the opening of Rice to Riches, the Mulberry Street rice pudding joint. There are flavors like Strawberry Floozy, Stubborn Banana with hint of Coconut, Chocolate Carnivore with a trace of Dark Raisins, and Obscene Orange with a tinge of Carrot. I'm a rice pudding purist myself, but I'd be up for Stubborn Banana with a hint of Coconut.

My people have been using rice for many years: Witness jook, aka congee.

I'm not a real congee/jook fan, but my dad, brother, and mom are. When they go to the jook restaurant near their house, I tend to order the beef tendons.

as i remember it, my old roommate mike really liked to get the congee that they had in the buckets outside the grand street subway station- near Forsythe Street. personally, it looked a little iffy to me, but then i treat my body like a temple.
