Lynne Thigpen

It was sad to hear that Lynne Thigpen, the wonderful stage, TV and film actress, died suddenly yesterday. While she was a Tony-winning actress and had a role on CBS's "The District," she is close to Gothamist's heart as the hard-boiled, no nonsense Chief from "Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego?" Based on the seminal children's computer game, the show was a mix of social studies game show and international intrigue, PBS style.

I remember seeing the movie "The Warriors", and I was so impressed by Lynne Thigpen's portrayal of the radio dj. The only thing you heard and saw were her voice and lips. She carried that movie. I love that movie to this day. She has had several screen and tv roles that I admired throughout the years. I will miss her great talent.

Unfortunately I only recently found out about this wonderful actress' death and so it came as a double shock, one that I hadn't heard about it earlier and two that she had passed on. Rest in peace, Lynne.
