Lynne Thigpen

Lynne ThigpenIt was sad to hear that Lynne Thigpen, the wonderful stage, TV and film actress, died suddenly yesterday. While she was a Tony-winning actress and had a role on CBS's "The District," she is close to Gothamist's heart as the hard-boiled, no nonsense Chief from "Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego?" Based on the seminal children's computer game, the show was a mix of social studies game show and international intrigue, PBS style.

There were movie rumors years back, about a live-action version with Sandra Bullock.
Rockapella contributed catchy songs to the show, including the theme song, Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego?

If there's anything good to come out of this, it's that perhaps they'll finally be able to catch Carmen at her funeral.

Unfortunately I only recently found out about this wonderful actress' death and so it came as a double shock, one that I hadn't heard about it earlier and two that she had passed on. Rest in peace, Lynne.

I remember seeing the movie "The Warriors", and I was so impressed by Lynne Thigpen's portrayal of the radio dj. The only thing you heard and saw were her voice and lips. She carried that movie. I love that movie to this day. She has had several screen and tv roles that I admired throughout the years. I will miss her great talent.
