September 11 Pentagon Memorial

Design by Julie Beckman and Keith Kaseman
Check out the winning design for the Pentagon's September 11 Memorial. The design: "A memorial field is inscribed with 184 memorial units with each unit being dedicated to an individual victim. The field is organized as a timeline of the victims' ages. Each memorial unit will be located on its respective age-line, a random technique developed to disperse the units. Fifty nine memorial units face one way, while 125 face the other way to distinguish between the victims on board American Airlines flight 77 and those in the Pentagon. Each memorial unit is accompanied by a red-purple broad-leafed tree and will include a glowing light pool, a cantilevered bench and a place for the permanent inscription of each victim's name."
